Vanessa Schendel
Vanessa is a biologist with a research focus on the evolution and function of animal venom systems. She completed a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Germany at the University of Greifswald and moved to Australia in 2018 to commence a PhD at the Centre for Advanced Imaging (CAI) at the University of Queensland. Under the supervision of Associate Professor Eivind Undheim she investigated centipede venoms using a variety of methods, including 3D Mass Spectrometry Imaging and Serial Block-Face Electron Microscopy. She is now a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with Dr. Sam Robinson in the Vetter group at the Institute for Molecular Biosciences (IMB) where she investigates pain causing toxins from wasp venoms.
