Sung Ho YANG

Professor Sung Ho Yang holds a position in Chemistry Education at the Korea National University of Education (KNUE) in Chungju, Republic of Korea. He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 2010, where he conducted his studies under the esteemed guidance of Professor Insung S. Choi. Following his doctoral work, he pursued postdoctoral research in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of California, Berkeley, before beginning his independent academic career as a faculty member at KNUE in 2012. Professor Yang’s research journey began during his doctoral studies, focusing on Atom-Transfer Radical Polymerization, biomimetic synthesis of inorganic materials, and the fabrication of thin films. He extended his research to apply biomimetic synthesis and thin film fabrication techniques within biological systems. His innovative work in this area has led to advancements in encapsulating living cells with nanomaterials through precise chemical reactions at the interface of biological systems and aqueous media. Currently, Professor Yang is engaged in research on diffusion-controlled crystallization within hydrogels, with a focus on elucidating the mechanisms behind bone formation in biomimetic environments.
