I am currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Institute for Biomedicine and Glycomics at Griffith University. My research here involves using structural biology methods (primarily NMR and Cryo-EM) combined with chemistry-based approaches to characterise proteins and protein complexes to better understand signalling mechanisms in biological processes, including human disease processes and bacterial defence systems. This can provide the basis for future work on drugs to combat a range of neurodegenerative and inflammatory diseases and expand the currently available molecular and chemical biology toolkits for biotechnology applications.
I completed my PhD at the University of Queensland, where I used NMR to examine the structural aspects of thumb domains of Acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs) to screen for, design and refine channel modulators as novel therapeutic leads.
