Christine Fink
Christine Fink holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from the Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany, where she specialised in Bioprocess Engineering and completed her bachelor thesis at the Institute for Particle Technology. During her studies, she participated in an Erasmus semester abroad at Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, Portugal, focusing on Environmental Engineering.
She then pursued a Master’s degree in Biotechnology at the University of Applied Sciences Aachen, Germany. Her master thesis and practical internship at the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel focused on studying the interactions between biofilms and microplastics in marine environments, employing confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM). Additionally, she was part of the 6 weeks long HE578 research cruise for the "FACTS - Fluxes and Fate of Microplastics in Northern European Waters" project, investigating the distribution of microplastics within the water column of the Atlantic Ocean.
Currently, Christine is pursuing a PhD at the University of Sydney, Australia, where her research centres on developing innovative spectroscopic techniques for characterising nanoplastics. Alongside her PhD, she works at Sydney Analytical.
Her interdisciplinary expertise bridges biotechnology, environmental science, and advanced analytical techniques.
