Deepan Balakrishnan 13th Asia Pacific Microscopy Congress 2025

Deepan Balakrishnan

I am a senior research fellow in the National University of Singapore. My research focuses on extracting 3D insights from 2D projections (bright-field images) by incorporating material and physics-based priors. I also explore correlative imaging to integrate traditional imaging modalities through computational optics. My research involves developing computational imaging methods using mathematical models, statistical methods, and imaging physics to extract deeper insights from samples compared to qualitative manual inference. Hence, it sits at the intersection of machine learning, signal and data processing, and optics, with applications in biology, medicine, and materials science.
