Utkur Mirsaidov

Utkur Mirsaidov is an associate professor of physics at the National University of Singapore. His research interests are focused on understanding the atomic details of how materials form and how the structural transformation of materials affects their properties. His research group is at the forefront of developing and using advanced in situ electron microscopy methods to explore processes such as crystallization, self-assembly, the origin of catalytic properties in materials, and advancing nanofabrication methods for next-generation semiconductor devices. He received his Ph.D. degree in physics from the University of Texas at Austin with John Markert (2006) and was a postdoctoral fellow first at the University of Illinois at Urbana with Gregory Timp (2006-2009) and at the National University of Singapore (NUS) with Paul Matsudaira (2009-2013). In 2013, he joined the department of physics at NUS as a faculty member.
